Ms. Shirley concerns are safety and the well-being of her children. Ms. Shirley mentioned car break-ins and concern that matters could change among other things. Ms. Shirley has three small children. She is a stay home mom and denies wanting to work at this time. Ms. Shirley attends community events. I advised her of NCC is available for resources. Ms. Shirley understands, I invited her to the upcoming events for the month of May at the Family Center.

She stated she is thinking about taking the job if they call her. She was working temporarily. Ms. Shirley has small children and states she doesn't have help when it comes to picking them up from school or babysitting while she works. My plan is to get Ms. Shirley connected with an afterschool program that will help her being able to work. An LAS was completed on Ms. Shirley.

115457 2023-11-27 Phone Call Care Call On November 27, 2023, at 10:01 Ms. Kayla Shirley a NCC client from Rolling Hills Apartments called to report a behavioral matter that involved the school principal of Lucie E. Campbell. Ms. Shirley stated she was signing here kids into school as they were arriving late. She stated in the office the principal who she called as Mr. G was yelling at a young male who was trying to express that some girls were bothering him. Ms. Shirley stated the principal overlooked what the male child was saying and continued to yell and snatched the child by his collar. Ms. Shirley states there were adults in the office witnessing as well, she said they laughed over and over again. Ms. Shirley said being a parent and a witness to this upset her and she cried because she wanted to help the child. Ms. Shirley states she called The Board of Education and received no response. Ms. Shirley decided to call me and report the behavior she saw. I got advice from Brandon to make sure my thoughts in handling the matter were lining up with how NCC will respond. I called the school Lucie E. Campbell to speak with their counselor to report the matter. I received a voicemail for Ms. Julia Cole, I left her a message requesting that she return my call concerning a matter to be addressed.

Ms. Shirley called because she was frustrated, she stated her Snap benefits had been stolen. Ms. Shirley said she filed a police report as directed by DHS. Ms. Shirley is afraid she may not have enough food before her benefits are reinstated. I advised Ms. Shirley Neighborhood Christian Center can give her a Food Box when needed. Ms. Shirley will give me a call if she begins to experience food insecurities. She did not want to take a food box on today.

Ms. Shirley has reached out to her family but no one has committed to help. Ms. Shirley is currently working a full-time job. I advised Ms. Shirley of contacting CSA for utilities assistance.. She was not familiar with CSA, I gave her information for CSA. I will look for school uniforms in our clothing supply for her children. During our session I discussed the importance of managing stress while caring for her children. Ms. Shirley wants to have a better paying job she expressed with hours that will help her support her family better. She states she doesn't receive child support and believe her children father quit his job. Ms. Shirley has a 11th grade education and would like to complete her education but expressed she need to continue working for now. I expressed to her once she is ready we have a program that will help her complete her education to receive her GED. Ms. Shirley was accepting of the offer and states she will keep in contact with me. The plan is to help her with CSA getting utilities paid and school uniforms for her children.
